80M EFHW Antenna

I had this janky 10M sloper that I slapped together years ago.  Didn’t perform well for obvious reasons.  I decided to reuse the balun and lengthen the line to 40M to make an 80M EFHW.

The balun is a 1:1 air wound. 12 turns on a 1-1/2 PVC.  I know, weird, right. But as the balun for this EFHW works awesome!

The response works well overall.  The tuner does not change much over all bands 40-10M.

I strung it up in the woods (shooting past my inverted V).  I had just enough from my main feedpoint to the end of my property line.  Found a tree that I could shoot a line up into and stretch out the line.

It’s not super high off the ground, but I can cover over half the US and Canada on 80 and 40 on any given day.  Also get Europe when conditions are just right.  The feed end is about 10ft off the ground, and since the hill slopes down, the other end is about 25ft in the air.  The shield is grounded (kind of ends up as a low inverted L).

I have more pics to add. Here’s what I have for now.
